The Power of Resilience

August 1st

I won't say if my candidate doesn't win, and probably half the time they haven't, I'm going to take my ball and go home.

Warren Buffett

In the world of investing, it's inevitable that market movements will sometimes go against our expectations. Our chosen stocks may plummet, an expected rally may not materialize, or a reliable asset may suddenly turn volatile. In such circumstances, it's very easy to lose heart, question our strategies, and contemplate quitting.

However, the hallmark of a successful investor isn't winning all the time; quite the contrary. It's about staying in the game even when you're not winning. It's about resisting the urge to withdraw when things don't go your way. Failure and disappointment are inherent parts of the investment journey, and resilience in the face of these setbacks differentiates a good investor from a great one.

The next time your investment doesn't perform as expected, remember that it’s not about winning every time, but about having the courage to keep learning and seeking opportunities even in the face of failure. Investing isn't about quick victories, but about the steady accumulation of wealth over time through persistence and patience.
